CEDIL brings together some of the leading minds and institutions working in the field of impact evaluation. The Centre is led by a core Intellectual Leadership Team (ILT) made up of colleagues from the LSHTM’s Centre for Evaluation, the EPPI-centre at the UCL, the International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie), the Campbell Collaboration, and several leading individual expert consultants.
The Campbell Collaboration was established in 1999 with the goal of promoting systematic reviews of the evidence of social science interventions. The Campbell Collaboration operates through coordinating groups organised by theme that are responsible for the production, scientific merit, and usefulness of Campbell systematic reviews. The Campbell Collaboration brings to CEDIL its recognised authority in setting standards for credible evidence and its coordinating role in the production and use of evidence in policy-making.
The Evidence for Policy and Practice Information and Co-ordinating Centre (EPPI-Centre) is a research centre at the UCL Institute of Education. Established in 1993, the EPPI-centre produces reviews of evidence in many areas of social policy including education, health, social care, sport, environment, crime, and, international development. The EPPI-centre brings to CEDIL a network of international partnership and collaborations in synthesis methods.
The International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie) is a global leader in funding, producing, quality assuring and synthesising rigorous evidence. It supports evaluations and reviews that examine what works, for whom, why and at what cost, in low and middle-income countries. 3ie promotes peer learning and knowledge sharing, as well as building effective initiatives and partnerships focussed on evidence generation and use.
The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) participates in CEDIL through its Centre for Evaluation. The Centre draws on the School’s extensive experience in designing and conducting randomised and non-randomised studies in low and middle-income countries, involving multidisciplinary teams of qualitative and quantitative researchers. The Centre brings to CEDIL its invaluable experience and multidisciplinary approach to evaluation.
