The Centre of Excellence for Development Impact and Learning (CEDIL) develops and tests innovative methods for evaluation and evidence synthesis. CEDIL was established in January 2017 under a five-year grant from the UK government’s Department for International Development. It consists of a Research Directorate, managed by the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and hosted at the London International Development Centre, and a Programme Directorate.
CEDIL’s Key Principles
- To establish a high quality, inter-disciplinary academic centre to innovate in the field of impact evaluation.
- To design, commission and implement innovate impact evaluations.
- To promote the uptake and use of evidence from impact evaluations.
CEDIL will test its impact evaluation and evidence synthesis products through programmes of work which will be implemented by the Programme Directorate. CEDIL will undertake a feedback process of the experiences of implementing these studies which will be presented in a series of ‘lessons learned’ papers.
