Marcella Vigneri, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine
I am a development economist and specialise in the use of quantitative research methods to investigate a range of policy-relevant topics in international development.
I am currently affiliated to LSHTM Environmental Health Group, providing technical support to projects on sanitation practices and hygiene behaviour in Sub-Saharan African countries. I am also interested in applying middle level theory to test causal process across theories of change to ensure knowledge transferability. I apply an interdisciplinary approach to my research in impact evaluation and evidence synthesis.
I was affiliated to the Centre of Excellence for Development Impact and Learning until 2021, where I was a member of the Research Secretariat. Prior to 2017 I served as quantitative lead researcher for several organisations, including IFPRI’s Ghana Strategy Support Program, the UN’s FAO and ILO, the World Bank, the Overseas Development Institute, and Oxfam GB.
I hold a DPhil in Economics from Oxford University where I did original work on Ghana cocoa farmers based at the Centre for the Study of African Economies.
